This is the first Newsletter from 2024 since I returned from my trip in Brazil while visiting family and studying with my teacher Carioca. It was so amazing to have the support from Atha Yoga Shala and the Cornell Museum in Delray where I work. Both have been so accommodating and supportive while I took 2 months to travel, learn and fill my own cup! I also am so appreciative for the teachers and friends that have kindly subbed my classes and gave their best to support the community. Thank you!

While I was away I got to connect with my family; a gigantic part of my heart! |
|
|
I was able to play with my gorgeous nephew Noah and to spend some evenings talking to my brother under the stars. Just to be in the presence of love and the treasure that family is filled my heart. |
|
|
|
|
Most of my practice was to stay present in the Now, with every person and moment, with every emotion and sensation- and to be fully grateful for all the range of feelings that we, as super humans spiritual beings, get to feel! |
|
|
After spending time with family in the hometown were I grew up, I traveled to Rio de Janeiro where I began my studies. I stayed alone in a special hidden oasis for a few weeks before my partner James joined me. |
|
|
|
|
|
I was mostly studying music and spending time alone to reconnect with my essence. A lot of walks through the forest, bathing in the waterfall, and just slowing down to see, feel, and be. I learned so many things about myself- and above all, to be gentle. With all of the healing that each of us undergoes … gentleness becomes a great friend to remind us that we are doing great. Just to breathe. Be grateful. My yoga practice consisted mainly of the limbs that are connected with breath and meditation. I was also asked to teach a few yoga classes which gave me deep joy! To share what I love doing with strangers that I now call friends.

Once James arrived, we embarked on a deep musical training- in which I was mainly focused on playing guitar. For the first time in my life I practiced 2-4 hours a day playing alone and the rest of the days would consist of 10/12 hours of music non stop. This included all instruments and voice. Playing together in a circle and learning to be the instrument that each of us are in the orchestra of life. |

Refining our own music has had a great impact in the rhythms of our life and how to be more connected with all that is sound. And silence. |
|
|
|
|
I am grateful for every person that was part of this dream come true. I want to thank all of you who contributed to my birthday gift last August, supporting my work and my journey.
|
|
Also extremely grateful for my mother, Mama Frog, who cared for my beautiful kitty Varuna at my place, while I was studying. When I returned to Florida I was able to spend time with her, making unforgettable moments with her such as just singing together in the evening or visiting the Jungle Queen Cruise in Fort Lauderdale. She’s back home in Brazil, now, but I can’t wait to see her again in August. |

At the urging of many friends, students and past retreat participants, I committed to finding more retreat locations beyond my first love, Costa Rica. I focused on the geographic area of Nicaragua and made a trip there late last year. Upon arrival to a magical mountain overlooking the most precious ocean, with the sound of the waves, the pure air entering my lungs, the beauty of the season at this time of year, and where everything is lush, green and alive…it was such a gift! I immediately felt at home, similar to Costa Rica. I encountered like-minded people that respect the environment and seek to better themselves for our collective evolution. Fresh food and fruits were abundant. Pristine, empty beaches, amazing surf every minute of every day, a beautiful yoga space, and the best spa treatments and massages! Amongst the three retreat options I visited, I felt my heart and that inner knowing of: ”This is the place” when i stepped into the secluded, private, luxurious yet “in the jungle” place I’ve chosen for my Jyoti Wellness Retreat for 2024.

Special topic: “Guided Meditation”One of my favorite things I do to keep me balanced is to receive from many wonderful teachers their gift of guidance into a meditative state, as a way to great the new day, a reset in the middle of the day, or at the end of the day as a way to help facilitate drifting into sleep. It is always helpful to remind ourselves of the most simple things, such as breathing, relaxing and releasing the tension from our body. To allow ourselves to just listen and be present. I especially like to utilize the Insight Timer app. It has a catalog of many artists with a variety of different styles, approaches and techniques, and they also offer many courses that stimulate ourselves to continue seeking and listening to things that a place within ourselves already recognizes as truth. I also love to utilize a new tool in my “relaxation box”, introduced to me not long ago. It is a “Shakti Mat”. Above all, there are so many different ways to calm our nervous system down and to start every moment as a new opportunity to dream again! I hope I can help you during these times of growth. May we all surrender to that which we call home. Forever and ever.
